Overnight Camp Out

A favorite activity of ours to occupy our endless summer daylight is camping.  Since the hubs checks out next week to commercial fish (gotta make that money!) we wanted to get in at least one trip before he leaves.  Molly has been on several camping trips in her time with us, but last weekend was Brodie's very first trip, and our first trip with two pooches.  First of all camping with the Forester was amazing!  We crammed 3 people and 2 dogs and all of our stuff in there without having to sacrifice safety :).
The weather hasn't been cooperating as much as we would all like this summer, except for the one night we decide to camp.  It was just beautiful.
Glacier water didn't stop our girl!
The plan was to go kayaking, little did we know they closed up shop an hour before we made our way down to the lake.  To make lemonade out of our lemons we sat in the kayaks with our faces in the sun pretending we were on the water.
The pups preferred a profile shot for our family photo.
Have I mentioned that I loovee our new car?  Yeah, well I totally do.  You can't tell super well in this picture but those pups are covered in sooty mud and are soaking wet, normally this would make me cringe thinking of them jumping all over the seats unavoidably getting on the front seats where there is no cover, but now they can have all the fun they want and keep it all contained in their own cozy space.
Our friend has some incredible guitar and singing abilities, Brodie helped him to not be shy to sing in front of us so we could all sit around the fire and enjoy his sweet music.
The next day we woke up to rain, and decided it was a perfect time to pack up and home.
First camping trip of the summer was a smashing success.  The pups were great other than Molly obsessively wanting to eat the volleyball we were playing with.
What do you all do with your pups in the summer?

  1. So fun! And so beautiful, you're lucky the weather cooperated for you! :-) We've taken Oscar camping, but none of our fosters yet. We usually only go "camping" (notice the quotation marks) in campgrounds with electrical hookups, air mattresses, etc. Which means campsites with other campers, so we have to make sure the dogs know to stay close by. Haven't wanted to chance that with a foster yet, but it's on our to-do list!

  2. Your photos are always so beautiful and I LOVE seeing those scenery photos. We definitely don't have anything like that out here. I'm always curious how the extended daylight works...do people do anything special? Or just spend more time outside?

    1. Mostly everyone just spends more time outside, making up for the lack of daylight during the winter. All the pictures by the lake were taken at about 8pm :)

  5. Looks like a great camping trip. Alaska is SO beautiful!

Good luck to your hubs on the fishing! How does that work, how can a person get to work on that?

    1. Thanks! He is a commercial fisherman out of Bristol Bay, he got on a boat with a friends family a few years ago and it has been a great source of income!

  6. Brodie perched up on the car--he looks so striking! Look at Molly lugging that big stick, too cute! Your pups really live the life!

  8. Your pictures are stunning as always. The only thing that can make beautiful scenery more attractive is sticking two gorgeous doggies in the forefront. Let's see...our favorite summer activities include laying on the couch in the A/C and sleeping! It's going to hit 100 here this week and these dogs don't do well over 70. We still take our walks, just shorter and slower. I wish they would swim.

  9. Uh, wow. Beautiful...I bet that makes for some great camping. The space for the pooches in the back is fantastic...what kind of car do you have?
