Overnight Camp Out

A favorite activity of ours to occupy our endless summer daylight is camping.  Since the hubs checks out next week to commercial fish (gotta make that money!) we wanted to get in at least one trip before he leaves.  Molly has been on several camping trips in her time with us, but last weekend was Brodie's very first trip, and our first trip with two pooches.  First of all camping with the Forester was amazing!  We crammed 3 people and 2 dogs and all of our stuff in there without having to sacrifice safety :).
The weather hasn't been cooperating as much as we would all like this summer, except for the one night we decide to camp.  It was just beautiful.
Glacier water didn't stop our girl!
The plan was to go kayaking, little did we know they closed up shop an hour before we made our way down to the lake.  To make lemonade out of our lemons we sat in the kayaks with our faces in the sun pretending we were on the water.
The pups preferred a profile shot for our family photo.
Have I mentioned that I loovee our new car?  Yeah, well I totally do.  You can't tell super well in this picture but those pups are covered in sooty mud and are soaking wet, normally this would make me cringe thinking of them jumping all over the seats unavoidably getting on the front seats where there is no cover, but now they can have all the fun they want and keep it all contained in their own cozy space.
Our friend has some incredible guitar and singing abilities, Brodie helped him to not be shy to sing in front of us so we could all sit around the fire and enjoy his sweet music.
The next day we woke up to rain, and decided it was a perfect time to pack up and home.
First camping trip of the summer was a smashing success.  The pups were great other than Molly obsessively wanting to eat the volleyball we were playing with.
What do you all do with your pups in the summer?

A Little Bit O' Life

Holy smokes it is amazing how time flies, particularly without weekly blogging documentation to recap life and also suck some major time out of my day.  Don't get me wrong I love blogland, particularly staying informed about all of your lives through your posts, I may have been quiet here but have not been absent from reading all of your blogs.  Summer rolled in full force around the beginning of May right around the time school ended and blogging fell off the radar!  Here is a little recap of what has been going on around here in bullet form.
  • The sun finally graced us with its presence and got rid of the rest of the snow, so the four of us spent a lot of time exploring new walking areas going to the park and hanging out at the grandparents, we also learned that Brodie has an affinity for water (after he conquered his fear of actually stepping into it).
  • We discovered a "beach" area that is well away from civilization and perfect for whipping up a camp fire, drinking a few beers and letting the dogs run as far as the eye can see with little chance of running into anyone.  It also made for the perfect excuse to pack Molly's backpack full of stuff for her to carry for us on our trek down to the beach.

No pitbulls were hurt in the taking of this photo
  • We also finally got a new-to-us, bigger car aka swagger wagon.  To say I love my Subaru Forester would be an enormous understatement, I luurrve it like none other.  It's spacious, economical, reliable and dare I say sexy?  Anywho, we now are able to keep the pups gated into the enormous cargo space area with a comfy bed and be able to use our extra three seats for people.  We adore being able to not have to sacrifice not taking our pups somewhere due to lack of seat space.
Well I think that is enough of an update for our first blog post back in over a month, I don't want to waste all my juicy new pictures just yet.  As far as future blogging goes lets face it, we have never really been the 5 day a week posters and I have decided that is totally okay.  I plan to post more fluidly, which may mean no posts for a week and 3 posts the next, ideally we will get in a quality post once a week but we will see how it goes.  Summer doesn't last forever around here so if the sun is out we plan to be out enjoying it with our pups!  How has the summer been affecting you all?

Spring Walk 4.15.12

For as much snow as we got this year I have to say it is melting surprisingly fast.  Alaska finally cleaned it's act up and has consistantly been in the 40's and 50's, which means a whole lotta sloppy trails and melting dog poo.
The sun and warmth is quite a nice reprieve from all the cold darkness.  The pups have been able to enjoy long walks sweaterless, ahh the freedom.
Lately we have been walking at leisurely pace letting the pups roam and play and just enjoy the sunshine.  Of course mom is always quick to bust out the camera.
Such photogenic dogs we have don't ya think.
Playing with sticks never gets old for these two, and naturally they only want the one that the other one has.

Throw it dad, throw it dad, throw it dad
I think Brodie could sustain on sticks alone.  They are his favorite to munch on, carry around and play with.

An attempted family photo came out blurry and of course the boys were distracted, but all in all lovely.

I'm Taken

For all those who were concerned that Brodie in all his stocky cuteness was going to get snatched up while wearing his 'Adopt Me' Sirius Republic collar, fret no longer our boy got a much needed wardrobe update.
With your help we picked out a masculine and somewhat dorky plaid collar from Sirius, and as always we are thrilled with the beauty and solid construction.
Now the Brodster no longer has to defend his non-adoptableness, which is a good thing for this boy since we got propositioned daily from eligible suitors.  At least Brodie can rest assured that he is for sure in his forever home, which is more than I can say for Molly who is going to have to be a lot more creative in her attempts to get rid of her brother.
Let the plotting begin!
